Mineral Park Mine Tour May 13th. This may not be as big as the Bagdad Mine, but it was a little more personal and accessible due to the tour guide being one of our Club Members. Every time we wanted to stop the bus to take pix or look about for rocks, Stefan was very agreeable.
KABAM-Vendors Day in Metcalfe Park May 14th. Every one had a good time selling, educating, interacting, and wandering about the Park to see all the Art and Books that the other vendors had on display. Our Geodes were a big hit!
Shop Tour July 9, 2011: Thankyou to those who were willing to share their shops and equipment, snacks, beverages, and knowledge.
Top left is a 20 in saw, on the right is a home made 24 in. The outside is wood, the inside a fabricated metal pan to hold the coolant for the blade. To the left is a 24 in saw by Highland Park.
By the time Stefan is through with his home made saw, he will have a product that will function every bit as well as the Highland Park. Complete with auto-feed and auto-shut off.
For grinding and polishing, the Geni size collection of wheels seems to be the product of choice. The obvious draw back is the amount of space between the wheels. Stefan has over come this problem by having another setup that has the larger wheels that are spaced more widely. This allows working with larger pieces that are carved or free formed pendants.
To the left is another saw that Stefan and Trent are working on. This 14 inch saw will be a nice addition to their growing equipment collection.
Below are a 10 inch and 14 inch. The 10 inch we bought new, the 14 inch I could not even tell it was a saw when Gary brought the pieces into the shop. After a LOT of cleaning, some tubing, a pump, new switches, some rewiring, and new cords>Ta Da: A great saw I love to use!
